Joseph Varker 1st Dan BJC

The newest member of our coaching team, Joseph gained his 1st Dan and his level 1 coaching qualifications in 2013 Joseph joins Nigel, Chris & Ben as Sensei David's 4th “homegrown” Dan grade Joseph is also an “Area” level referee, where he excels at reinforcing Judo Etiquette on and off the mat. During his time at junior grade, Joseph has competed at International, National and Area level competitions, winning medals at such prestigious events as the Southend International, Kent International, Junior Nationals and Welsh Nationals. Now at Senior level, he is again traveling the country, along with Sensei Ben, competing and gaining lots of medals and most of all experiences that can be shared with our Junior Judokas. Joseph is also a very keen Scout leader and is quite often found “camping” somewhere or other. He has walked the Southwest coastal path, from Rame Head to Lands End in seven days, which is no mean feat! and has been on expeditions to Sweden, Madagascar and very soon to Japan, where he is hoping to be able to spend some time at the prestigious Kudokan in Tokyo.
